Specializing in Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Moreyra joins Jackson Hospital’s active Medical Staff and the Chipola Surgical & Medical Specialties/Orthopedics.

Board certified in Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Carlos Moreyra graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed a surgical internship at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. Following additional training, he then served as a Flight Surgeon at the Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadrom Fourteen in Norfolk, Virginia. He then pursued his civilian residency in orthopedic surgery at Template University Hospital and a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. Following his training, he returned to active duty in the Navy by serving at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola. During his assignment there, he was deployed to Afghanistan where he worked at the NATO Role 3 Combat Hospital in Kandahar Air Field.

Dr. Moreyra has continued serving our county as an officer in the Naval Reserve. Currently, he is a Commander in the Medical Corps in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

His practice interested include sports medicine, traumatic injuries, hip and knee replacements, and general orthopedics including care for arthritis. His goal is to help all patients regain and reach optimal mobility. An avid athlete, Dr. Moreyra’s personal achievements include finishing the Miami Half Marathon, completing a Summit Climb to 14,410 feet on Mount Rainier, and finishing the ING Miami Marathon.
