“TEEN” LOVETT MEMORIAL PLAQUE
PRESENTED TO JACKSON HOSPITAL’S MEDICAL/SURGICAL NURSES
Compassionate Care Acknowledged during Thanksgiving Season
Marianna, FL, November 20, 2007. The fall holidays signify thoughts of thanksgiving and appreciation of others. Mrs. Foy Lovett and family are the embodiment of these qualities as they honor spouse, father, and loved one -- Mr. Foy “Teen” Lovett -- with a memorial plaque presented to Jackson Hospital’s 2nd Floor Nursing Staff. Mrs. Lovett says, “The purpose of the plaque is to mark the compassionate care Mr. Lovett received during his recent hospital admission.” The plaque presented today at 4pm to all shifts of the Medical Surgical Nursing Unit includes special acknowledgement to Doctors John Spence and Mark Akerson of Panhandle Family Care Associates.
The “Teen” Lovett Memorial Plaque name originates from an affectionate nickname bestowed upon Mr. Foy Lovett. According to Vann Funeral Home’s obituary notice, Mr. Lovett of Marianna was 76 at the time of his death on October 4, 2007. Mr. Lovett was self-employed, retired from A.B. Williams Co., and was a member of Jerusalem AME Church where he served as a trustee and sung in the Senior Choir.
Mr. Lovett’s wife is Annie-Myrtle Keel Lovett of Marianna. He leaves his legacy in 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. The Lovett daughters are Myrtice Lovett Bess (Elliot) of Marianna, employed as a Monitor Technician in Jackson Hospital’s Special Care Unit; Sonya Lovett of Marianna; Annie R. Davis of Tampa; and Teresa Faye McGowan (Robert) of Alexander, LA.; one sister, Ruby Keel of Marianna; four brothers, Edward Lovett (Stella), Ed Neal Holden, all of Marianna, Albert Lovett of Fairfield, CA., Donaldson Lovett (Flo) of Tampa.
The 2nd Floor is the Medical/Surgical Nursing Care Unit. It is on this unit where patients are treated for a variety of illness and also recover from in-patient surgeries such as gall bladder, appendicitis, amputation. The unit has 28 beds staffed by 60 nursing and other clinical staff. The Medical/Surgical Nursing Care Unit is Jackson Hospital’s largest nursing unit. During Mr. Lovett’s hospital stay, Mrs. Lovett says, “he wanted for nothing; the nurses were so good to him.”
Diane Lamar, RN, an 18-year employee of Jackson Hospital and Medical/Surgical Unit Nurse Director describes her staff as “well-qualified nurses who care about their patients.”
Jackson Hospital’s mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare to those it serves, enhancing life in a compassionate environment. The hospital counts Jackson County and neighboring counties as its service area.
Jackson Hospital, a top 100 Hospital in the nation according to Thomson Healthcare, is the only Florida hospital in its size category to receive the 2006 Performance Improvement Leaders award.
