Renovation and ER Expansion Project
February 23, 2011, Marianna, FL Jackson Hospital held its groundbreaking ceremony today marking the beginning of its $6.5 million expansion and renovation that will include major changes to the first floor of the hospital and the emergency room. Construction is set to begin on February 25th.
“Jackson Hospital is growing to better meet the needs of our community,” explained Larry Meese, Chief Executive Officer. “We have expanded key services and now have 30 board certified physicians on staff, and we need to better utilize the space we have in order to accommodate the increased number of patients coming to Jackson Hospital.”
“In our emergency room, we are seeing record numbers of patients, and we are simply out of space,” Meese said. “By expanding the ER, we will more than double its capacity which currently sees over 23,000 individuals each year.”
A realignment of the first floor is also planned which will optimize patient flow, centralize patient registration, and provide a more spacious and attractive seating area for patients and visitors. Other realignments include the recent relocation of the outpatient laboratory and radiology services to the Hudnall Medical Building. This will add convenience for patients with easy access and parking while allowing for better usage of space in the hospital.
“Jackson Hospital is growing,” Meese explained. “We’ve added many new services such as infusion therapy, reverse shoulder surgery, medical stabilization, and diagnostic ultrasound services including guided needle ultrasound to name a few. We are also pleased with the growth of our medical staff which includes new physicians in Hematology/Medical Oncology, OB/GYN, Orthopedics/Sports Medicine, primary care, General Surgery, and soon Urology. And we’ve opened a Primary Care Clinic in Sneads to better serve Eastern Jackson County and surrounding communities,” Meese noted.
The renovation and expansion should be complete in March of 2012. |
