TWO STAR PERFORMERS NAMED AT JACKSON HOSPITAL
Kyle Evans, RRT, and Steven “Syrup” Sullivan receive honor
Marianna, FL, January 14, 2008. Kyle Evans, RRT, and Steven “Syrup” Sullivan were named Jackson Hospital’s Quarterly STAR Performers. Both are Jackson County natives and well known for their compassionate care to others. The STAR Performer award is the highest employee award at Jackson Hospital. This quarter Kyle and Syrup were among those employees nominated by colleagues for their extraordinary service to patients.
Kyle Evans is a Respiratory Therapist who works the 7pm-7am shift at Jackson Hospital. Respiratory Therapists evaluate and treat all types of patients, ranging from premature infants whose lungs are not fully developed to elderly people whose lungs are diseased. They treat patients with chronic asthma or emphysema and provide emergency care to patients who are victims of a heart attack, stroke, trauma, drowning or shock.
Mr. Evans grew up in Marianna and graduated from Marianna High School. He holds an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from Marshall University in West Virginia. Kyle is a Florida-licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. Before joining Jackson Hospital September 2006, he served as a Respiratory Therapist at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipos, Ohio.
Kyle says it is the people – both patients and staff – that make his job so enjoyable. He sees Marianna as a close-knit town consisting of people who care about each other.
Steven “Syrup” Sullivan is also a hometown fellow and fifth generation of Sullivans who arrived in Jackson County before the 1900s. Better known by the nickname “Syrup” to his friends and colleagues, he is the type of person who has a ready hand to help.
Syrup is instrumental in the care of patients in his role with Materiel’s Management. He is part of the team who ensures needed patient and operational supplies are available on the patient care floors and in the business offices.
Celebrating his 2nd year employment anniversary January 4th, he lives up to his role as hospital ambassador to the community. He is well known in the community and is passionate about people and the hospital. His aim is to help others in meaningful ways to make their lives a little easier.
Jackson Hospital’s mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare to those it serves, enhancing life in a compassionate environment. The hospital counts Jackson County and neighboring counties as its service area.
The 425 employees of Jackson Hospital congratulate Kyle and Syrup. Jackson Hospital, a top 100 Hospital in the nation according to Thomson Healthcare, is the only Florida hospital in its size category to receive the 2006 Performance Improvement Leaders award. The Hospital provides in-patient, out-patient, and emergency care services from its main location in Marianna at 4250 Hospital Drive. # # # If you would like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Kyle Evans or Syrup Sullivan, please call Rosie at 850/718-2696 or email her at rsmith@jackhosp.org.
