Mayor Roger Clay Proclaims Hospital Week at Jackson Hospital
May 11-17th is National Hospital Week
Marianna, FL, May 6, 2008. Today Marianna Mayor Roger Clay signed a Proclamation declaring May 11-17, 2008 Hospital Week at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, FL. Mayor Clay signed the document in an outside ceremony surrounded by employees, Medical Staff, the Ladies Auxiliary, and Administration.
The Proclamation declares the theme of this year’s National Hospital Week as “Where Healing Happens Every Day.” Furthermore, the Proclamation urges residents to “express their appreciation for the people, facilities and technologies that make trustworthy, reliable health care possible in our community.”
Hospital Week unites hospitals, health care workers, and communities coast-to-coast, cultivating enthusiasm and pride in care giving. According to the American Hospital Association’s Hospital Statistics, “nearly 6,000 hospitals and over five million dedicated staff members serve as beacons of hope in their communities.”
In any given week, America’s Hospitals:
§ provide emergency care to 2.3 million Americans
§ deliver 78,000 babies
§ perform 526,000 surgeries
§ serve as healthcare safety net for 47 million uninsured
§ and care for 680,000 Americans admitted to hospitals
Jackson Hospital commemorates Hospital Week with scheduled employee and community events, such as the Art in Public Places Gallery ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 15th at 11am and Hospital Tours at 1pm that afternoon.
