What is the scope of this project?

We are excited that the renovation & ER Expansion will bring a new look to the ambulance entrance, MRI, ER, Patient Registration, Gift Shop, and 1st Floor front lobby.

Is the Hospital moving to a new location?

No. This is a construction-in-place project and we will take great care to keep noise minimized to ensure the comfort and care of our patients, visitors, employees, and Medical Staff.

What Services are being relocated to the Hudnall Medical Building?

Jackson Hospital is consolidating frequently used outpatient services into its Outpatient Center located on the Ground Floor of the Hudnall Medical Building, on the Hospital’s campus. Ample parking is available in front of the Hudnall Medical Building.

Services available now and those soon available from the Outpatient Center are:
· Mammography
· Dexa Scan (Bone Density)

· Non-surgery Laboratory Tests, such as blood draws

· Infusion Therapy, such as Chemotherapy (March 2011)

· Ultrasound (Spring 2011)

· General X-ray (Summer 2011)

What are the Construction Phases?

There are six key phases of the construction process:

· Phase I – ER Addition. The addition nearly doubles the room capacity of the Hospital’s ER, from the current 9 to 17 beds.

· Phase 2 – HIM Department Move. The Health Information Management (HIM) Department, also known as Medical Records, will move to a new location. The existing space will be re-allocated to the centralized Patient Reception and Scheduling area, enabling easy access for patients from the front entrance of the Hospital.

· Phase 3 – Temporary Registration Build. A temporary area will be created to house Patient Registration staff while the Main Registration Area is renovated.

· Phase 4 – ER Renovation. The current section of the ER will be renovated and updated to provide consistency with the ER Addition.

· Phase 5 – Gift Shop/Lobby. The Ladies Auxiliary Gift Shop, the Main Hospital Entrance Lobby will be re-created in the new area vacated by HIM and Central Schedule Department relocations.

· Phase 6 – Existing ER Finishing. The current section of the ER will be painted and new ceilings will be installed.

What is the cost of the project?

The project is estimated at $7.5 Million.

Who is paying for the renovation and ER expansion?

Jackson Hospital.

How will Jackson Hospital communicate entrance changes to Emergency Response Personnel?

Jackson Hospital’s Safety Officer, Greg Grant, will provide ongoing communications with Emergency Response Personnel regarding Hospital entrance changes. Anticipated entrance changes:

· April 2011 – Current Ambulance and Emergency entrances close. Visitors and patients enter through the front entrance of the Hospital. Emergency Response Personnel use Temporary Ambulance Entrance. The Temporary Ambulance Entrance will be clearly marked.

· October 2011 – New ER Ambulance Entrance at rear of Hospital opens; Main front-entrance entrance closes. Patients and Visitors use New Emergency Entrance for entry to Hospital.

· January 2012 – Main Front Entrance to Hospital re-opens.

Who are the construction vendors?

The Hospital’s Board of Trustees’ Building and Grounds Committee, chaired by Jamie Streetman, selected only the best and the brightest in Rural and Community HealthCare construction planning, design, and build for its project. Mr. Streetman announces these major construction vendors:

· David E. Johnson Architects (DEJA)

· Brasfield & Gorrie – Construction Manager

· Mazetti Nash Lipsey Burch – Engineering (Mechanical/Plumbing/Electrical) Consultants

· Ingram Civil Engineering

· M & W Construction Co., Inc. – Local Construction/Contractor

What was the vendor selection process?

Jackson Hospital was created in 1939 by the Florida Legislature as a County Hospital District. As such, the Hospital must comply with Florida Statues on the notice, bid, and vendor selection process.
