Jackson Hospital Board of Trustees Names New CEO
Larry Meese takes helm Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Marianna, FL, August 17, 2009. Today, Jackson County Hospital District Board Chairman Gene Strickland announces that Larry Meese has been named permanent CEO of Jackson Hospital. Mr. Meese begins service Wednesday, August 19th succeeding Mr. Richard McConahy who has served as interim CEO since January 1, 2009.

Mr. Strickland says, “QHR, our management services firm for the past 30 years, recently conducted a national search for a new permanent CEO. They worked closely with the Board to identify candidates that would be a good match for our community. We welcome Mr. Meese to the hospital and our community.”

Mr. Meese’s qualifications include most recently serving as CEO of Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton and COO positions at Gadsden, AL and Mooresville, NC hospitals. He is a veteran of the United States Army, providing a decade of service to our country as a member of the Special Forces. Mr. Meese has an MBA from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Mr. Meese is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.

His spouse, Jeanine, is a Speech/Language Pathologist. Larry and Jeanine have two children, ages 4 and 8. The family looks forward to moving to Marianna and becoming part of the community.

Mr. Meese says, “I’m excited about living and working in Jackson County and continuing the great work of my predecessors.” He continues, “I am committed to ensuring our team provides the highest quality patient care and extraordinary customer service the community deserves. With our physician partners, the community, and Jackson Hospital, we will continue to enhance the healthcare delivery system of Jackson County.”

Mr. Strickland attributes to Mr. McConahy the expansion of the Hospitalist program at Jackson Hospital, providing continuity to the physician recruitment process, and bringing back the availability of Residency stipends to “grow our own local physicians.” Mr. McConahy effectively led the hospital through January’s Bio-Hazard event at the Jackson County Courthouse and the hospital’s JCAHO reaccreditation survey. Mr. McConahy is a member of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Jackson County class of 2009 and is a Rotarian.

Jackson Hospital’s mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare to those it serves, enhancing life in a compassionate environment. The hospital counts Jackson County and neighboring counties as its service area.

Jackson Hospital, a top 100 Hospital in the nation according to Thomson Healthcare, is the only Florida hospital in its size category to be a two-consecutive year Performance Improvement Leaders award winner. The Hospital provides a wide variety of medical, surgical, and emergency care services from its main location in Marianna at 4250 Hospital Drive.
