BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP FORMS
Thursday, March 13th is the date of the Organizing Meeting
Marianna, FL, February 25, 2008. Today, Marie Herring announced that she is fulfilling a personal goal of providing a forum for those at all stages of breast cancer. The organizing meeting of the Tri-County Breast Cancer Support group is scheduled for Thursday, March 13th at 5:30pm, in the Education Classroom of Jackson Hospital, 4250 Hospital Drive, Marianna, FL.
Marie’s goal is to ensure that other people coping with Breast Cancer or experiencing Breast Health issues have a ready resource. She discovered that no such forum existed in the greater Jackson County area – the nearest support group Marie found is in Bay County. She wants to help women as they go through the process. The Breast Cancer Support Group is not limited to just those with the diagnosis of breast cancer – it is for anyone one with breath health issues.
Since 1 out of 7 women develop breast cancer, this support group is essential to pass on information to the community. With the statistics stacked against women, the person dealing with the disease may be you, your mother, your sister, or another family member if the disease is in the family history. Marie says, “Breast Cancer will touch a lot of us whether we are prepared or not.” Therefore, it is important to have active conversation on the different options for care; exchange information based on individual experiences and share information on research and resources.
A woman’s physical presence psychologically defines her. Therefore, it is essential that women in the tri-County area – Calhoun, Jackson and Washington counties – have access to information and support. This group is open to any one wishing to have support from others suffering from breast health issues.
